Ilchester® Vegan Blue Burger

Celebrate National Burger Day!

INGREDIENTS:

For the burgers
• 250g vegan mince
• 1/4 white onion (diced)
• 1 teaspoon of miso paste
• 1 garlic clove (crushed)
• 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
• 1/2 tablespoon plain flour
• Pinch of salt
• Pinch of pepper

For the rest
• 80g Ilchester® Vegan Blue (sliced)
• 1/2 red onion (sliced)
• 1 tablespoon of balsamic vinegar
• 1 large tomato (sliced)
• Lettuce
• 2 teaspoons of vegan mayonnaise
• 2 burger buns
• 2 tablespoons of oil of choice

METHOD

Begin by preparing the burgers.
In a bowl combine the mince, diced white onion, miso paste, crushed garlic clove, salt and pepper.

Next add the soy sauce and flour and combine.

Using your hands split the mixture into two and mold into patties.

Place on a tray, cover it and place into the fridge for a minimum of 1 hour.

Meanwhile add a teaspoon of oil of choice to a pan on a medium heat and add the sliced red onion.

Sauté for a few minutes before adding the balsamic vinegar. Continue to cook for a few minutes more until the vinegar has reduced the onions start to caramelise.

Take off the heat and leave to one side.

When the burgers are ready to cook heat the same pan used for the onions on a medium heat. No need to have cleaned it.

Add the remaining oil and place both burgers into the pan.

Turn the burgers over every couple of minutes to avoid burning them.

They should take roughly 10 minutes until they’re cooked through.

When they’re cooked turn the heat off and place the slices of Ilchester® Vegan Blue flavour on top to allow them to melt slightly.

Load the burgers by adding mayonnaise to the bottom bun then lettuce followed by sliced tomato.

Next carefully add the burger and stack the caramelised onion on top of the Ilchester® Vegan Blue Slices.

Add the rest of the bun and carefully close. Enjoy!
